My Services

Individual Therapy

Stephanie Borer, LCSW (she/her) offers services to adults ages 18 and over. Individual therapy is the process of engaging in a one-on-one relationship with a licensed clinician, built upon confidentiality and trust. In a collaborative process with your therapist, you will outline what goals you want to work on, and what kind of treatment plan best fits your needs. In sessions, your therapist will guide you in exploring and gaining insight into your behaviors, emotions, thoughts and underlying beliefs. An important aspect of the process is to establish a strong rapport with your therapist, where you feel safe to bring anything in to discuss. The goal of therapy is to partner together in healing past wounds, build self awareness and self compassion, and work towards inner wellbeing.

EMDR Intensive Sessions are extended sessions that begin at 90 minutes and can last several hours depending on the right fit for the client’s needs. Sessions may be scheduled back to back and take place on consecutive days. Intensives are a safe and effective approach to trauma treatment, and are ideal for clients wanting to focus on treating a single stressful incident. Research shows that clients treated in a compressed format can make as much progress towards treatment goals as they do in standard weekly sessions. EMDR intensives may also be useful for clients who prefer longer sessions to maximize treatment time but who may need to meet less frequently than standard weekly psychotherapy sessions. For some, it allows you space for therapy around busy family and work schedules, and gives you the ability to plan ahead and set aside time to care for yourself after sessions. Many clients also choose to use EMDR intensives in addition to their current therapy, to reprocess a specific traumatic event and return to their ongoing therapist for continued treatment. All EMDR intensives begin with an initial assessment to ensure this format of treatment is the best for you.
